About Frederick Merida

          

Frederick Merida has been in relevant art activities since 1954, studio trained at the Kansas City Art Institute and Brooklyn Museum School. In 1964 as an entrepreneur he opened one of the first fine art galleries in Louisville, Kentucky and continued there until 1984. He moved with his wife Margaret to Farmington, Kentucky since then he has participated in national antique and ephemera shows throughout the country. He has conducted the merida_art site on eBay since 1999, feed back from those sales attest to his integrity and commitment to his customers. Merida has been a corporate art curator, consultant and a professional certified fine art appraiser, a collector and artist.

Merida has bought compulsively over the years objects construed as interesting treasures some that he still enjoys and cherishes.

He has been an award winning exhibiting artist throughout his life. He still makes art.


The Merida Gallery exhibited many promising local artists as well as national and international name artists. Merida exhibited African art and Japanese woodcuts and maintained a print gallery.  The mission of the gallery was to exhibit quality works, contribute to the community's art culture, expose and educate the public to the contemporary art being produced nationally and locally as well as other cultures.
